Year 9 Artists Dive Deep into Shell-Inspired Masterpieces
This semester, our talented Year 9 students have been exploring the intricate beauty of shells through an exciting and creative art project.
Using the grid method of transfer, students began by enlarging their chosen shell drawings with precision and focus. But the real magic happened next... Each drawing was divided into four equal sections, and students were challenged to explore a different medium in each quadrant.
From the soft washes of watercolour to the rich texture of oil pastel, the fine detail of graphite pencil, the earthy tones of coffee wash, and the unexpected charm of ballpoint pen — these mixed-media works are a celebration of experimentation and technique.
The final pieces are not only visually dynamic but also demonstrate students' ability to adapt their artistic vision across multiple materials — all while maintaining harmony in their overall composition.
