Book Week 2025
Students and staff Booked an Adventure this Book Week With a great array of events occurring on campus throughout the week.
Write a Book in a Day
On Wednesday 20 August, sixty students from Years 7–10 took on the challenge to write, illustrate, and submit a book — all in just 12 hours!
Working in 9 teams, they were given specific story elements to include. Despite the constraints, their creativity, teamwork, and determination led to some truly impressive stories.
The event also raised funds for The Kids' Cancer Project, an independent charity supporting research to find better treatments — and ultimately a cure — for childhood cancer.
We're so proud of the passion, collaboration, and heart our students brought to the day. What an achievement!

Author Incursion
We were thrilled to welcome author Brendan Ritchie to our college, where he spoke with our Year 7 and Year 10 students about dystopian fiction and his novels Carousel and ETA Draconis. Brendan shared the creative journey behind his writing, answered thoughtful questions, and offered inspiring advice to our budding writers.
A huge thank you to City of Bayswater Libraries for facilitating these engaging author talks, and to Brendan Ritchie for taking the time to visit and spark imagination in our students.
Book Week Costumes at JFSC
Staff and students joined in the fun on Friday morning by dressing up as characters from their favourite books. It was great to see so many creative costumes and a shared love of reading across the college.
Special mention to those who coordinated group costumes — and to Mr Lie, who kept us guessing all week with a different character each day!
